Identity is a Utility
Posted on Fri, Mar 25, 2011
Last week, an international expert on security, identity, credentialing and federation, said identity is like a utility. That is, it should be a fundamental piece of the critical infrastructure that must be used, managed, leveraged, distributed and protected like electricity. Get ready access control vendors: this is your inflection point of value. Are you going to stay on your proprietary platform or move to truly conform to the standards that are emerging in the industry? Security Executives: don't settle for the PowerPoint that says they conform. Check under the hood. Talk to your integrator and/or your consultant. Define your workflow and your compliance strategy around identity.
Salvatore D'Agostino, CEO of IDmachines, spoke at the
Gallagher Security International Channel Partner Conference in Hamilton, New Zealand and educated a global network of integrators on the changes occurring in 'High' Security. (the quote embedded in this blog was taken from the conference)
Specifically, he outlined key changes that he believes will change the way security technology is purchased, designed, implemented and managed.
Sage is tracking the emerging business models that are occurring in the Security Ecosystem that will impact users, technology vendors, business executives, and integrators. There will be some winners and some losers. We need to pay attention to the navigators of change like Mr. D'Agostino. As he would say: "Identity matters." Now let's see who will step up. And let us know your thoughts. Are you ready for this change?
