As the former chairman of AIM Global, and as the former president of Intermec, a key vendor in the identification and data capture industry, Miller's views are sought by market insiders.

Miller opined on a number of perceptions he had about the show and the industry. As well, the newsletter reviewed Miller's presentation: "Realizing Your Company's IP Path to Value" in which he shared his thought leadership around intellectual property and its role in creating corporate value. According to Miller, IP can be formal and informal. But as a leading benchmark of value, it must be aligned with the business and go-to-market plan for the company. The Sage Group has developed a methodology for identifying the key elements of a company’s strategic plan, assessing the company’s patent positions against that plan, and delivering strategic options for maximizing value. By doing this, much of the risk associated with investing in lawyering around the patent process can be mitigated and, more importantly, the assets of the company can be strategically deployed around the true value of the intellectual property increasing the competitive advantage within the marketplace.
